Adjusting Valve Clearances 400 Bandit

Hi all, a silly question but gotta ask it. Do you adjust all 16 valves? I've noticed 8 of the adjusters have white paint on them. Isn't that normally a factory way of saying leave them alone? Also when refitting the camshaft cover, do I fit the rubber gasket to the cover then lower it into place? When I removed the canshaft cover the gasket seemed to stay behind on the cylinder head.

Thanks

You would adjust any that are not within the manufacturers spec.
White paint is used to by the factory as a quality control marker, so only painted when correctly set and torqued.
Best fit the gasket to the cover when fitting and remember to use sealant on the cam cutouts.

Thanks much appreciated. I'll have to check all the others as only checked the 8 without the white paint. Luckily camshaft cover is still off.

I noticed when following the process for adjusting valve clearances in the workshop manual that the photos showing the position of the cam seem to be the wrong way around. I just thought it was a misprint, but now I'm wondering if my timing is 180 deg out. Is this possible? If so how do I correct it?

Bear in mind the Bandit I'm working on was bought as a non runner.
