No Spark GK71F

10 Years ago i bought myself a GSXR400.
Is had been crashed but according to the guy i bought it from the engine run,
hell no! no spark.
I tried a few things and then i left it standing.
Over the years i have seen it standing in the garage looking at me with a sad face and now it´s time to do something about it.

when messauring resistance in the signal Generator it only gives me 100 ohm. and according to some documents i got it should give me 250-500 ohm.


Where can i get my hands on spareparts? there is simply no parts to be found in sweden.

Hi Droopfy,
Welcome and i hope you can get the old girl running again. I dont have the gk71 service book anymore but the 73a and 76a both have readings of 100ohms, where did you find 250+ from? It is worth starting at one end and working back to find any problem- plugs good, plug caps good/tight, HT leads good/tight, 12v at the coils + tight connections, 12v at cdi, sticking relays or safty switches , good fuses etc. you just need to work from one end or the other and if you take your time it should not be too hard to find the problem.

Had a dig and the only manual info ive got is for the gk71B this states a pickup reading of between 250 and 500 ohm but this is a different part to the one one the gk71F. The 71F has more in common with the 73A altho the pickup is different, unique to the 71F so 100 ohm may be ok.

Wow. It shure has been a while since last time tought about the old 400. Yep, she's still there. Still not working. More or less forgotten under a blanket in the garage.

Funny how little time you get once you by a house.

Nevermind, it would be a nice x-mas gift to get it running. Think i will try to make som progress during the holidays.

Thank you guys for your tips. Everytime i decide to trubleshoot this bike i have to start over from the very biginning.
