Hiya,

What did the dyno centre say about the stick coils, overheating and carburation? A dyno run would normally show up all these issues.

Does it hold the revs when you let the clutch out or does it bog down needing even more revs and clutch slip?

Is it worth changing the gearing, dropping a tooth off the front and adding to the rear?

Electrics were fine this time, Last time i went on he commented about he thinks i have an electrical issue, which was before stick coils. i found the problem was the main power wire was shagged where the reg/rec + joins with it.

Overheating he just said it was a hot day :/ Hasn't gone past 3/4 temp though so think that is ok,

As for carb jetting he said he didnt have a clue were to start haha :P go up all over looks like a plan to me though :P just don't have much time at the moment as rebuilding the zzr :/ i thought that it was cutch slip at first but a have since thrown my old clutch in which i knew was fine and no difference. My gearing is already -1/+1 from stock.

So difficult to trouble shoot over the internet. However, The air fuel ratio seems to be climbing up as high as 16 but I would not think that would create all that, what appears to be, breaking down. Hence the electrical issue may have merit.
If you have a look at this guy's charts when running too lean it has to be above 18:1 to before it really goes too hell.

Cheers for info, Will take the time to read it out, I would have though an electrical issue would have caused it to become more rich due to no spark and extra fuel being in the combustion chamber,

I have just ordered Kit B from your website as i only have Kit A in there at the moment. Different address then last time though. then going to give the carbs another strip down and clean now i have access to a workshop rather then my kitchen :P

Ok got the order, thanks.
Yes, that is what you would think but if the exhaust gas analyser is measuring how much fuel is burnt and a lot is not burnt, due to misfiring, then it would show lean, yes? But I am just speculating here as I know squat about whatever they are using to measure the AF ratio. If there was the possibility of measuring hydrocarbons then this could be confirmed. Another idea would be to find a dyno wizard and I bet they would know what is going on very quickly.

Also regards the B kit:
There is a guide which will be handy here http://www.litetek.co/Guide_MikuniBDST_Rebuild.html It is not completely finished yet and is not for the Suzuki specifically but same family of carbs. Take lots of photos and hold the springs as you separate the carbs. They tend to fly off into oblivion otherwise.

Ah yes i see what you mean now, I have used the colortune on the bike also and could see clearly it constantly sparking, but it might be going at such a rate my eye may not take note of a miss spark?

Yh the guide will come in very handy, I have taken a few carbs completely apart before so it should not be to bad, main pain in bum is the tiny balancing springs to get them back in.

A suggestion, take your bike to another dyno facility where they understand what the charts are showing and can make changes to suit.

Not sure where you are but, Crescent Suzuki ( BSB /WSB race team etc) do dyno work, PDQ in Taplow Bucks do respected work.

If your guy can't solve it, go elsewhere as you could spend a fortune on parts and still be no further forward.

slabby, where is this article you speak of? I have a GK73a but I also do not like dual coils :( Wondering if they could be wired in the same.

Hi,
The magazine Practical Sportsbikes ran a feature about a year ago where one of the journos fitted stick coils to a GPZ600R. The magazine is a Bauer media production, you could email them for a back issue copy of that mag.

Hope this helps........
