FCR's on a SP?

Post by rgvsp » Tue Aug 11, 2020 4:06 pm

Has anyone ever heard of someone running them on an SP? I haven't come across any info, only standard Gk76's and they are always 33mm. I was kicking around the idea as a tinkering around project during the winter.

I came across this ebay listing for a 35mm set with TPS for an R6.

Thoughts? Ideas? Donations?

Yea man I have just done it, I put some fcr33 from a cbr600, machined up to fit, got the jetting roughly right but going to take to the dyno in the next few weeks. I’m currently running it with the air box too. What would you like to know?

I guess the first question would be go with 33mm instead of 35mm like the stock Mikunis?

What about the TPS? Do the 33mm have that option?

What needed machining?

I was always told to go for the 33s, I’m not sure if there would be much gain from the 35s, I had to machine new spigots to fit the boots to the box and to the engine rubbers, and make new spacer pipes between them to get the spacing right between each carb. I also needed a different angle for the throttle cable assembly, you might be able to buy all the parts directly from sudco, that’s where I ordered most of my jets and a few parts like the tps from they are in Oakland I believe, if the spacing is wrong between the carbs you will need to make a new throttle shaft that connects all the slides together, but this is straight forward. Yes the 33s have a tps Sensor but I won’t really know where to set it until I head to the dyno, that great video of the gsxr400 on YouTube with the herdy front cowel that sounds super lumpy might be a sp. oh and I’m swapping my single acting throttle for a double acting throttle. Hope that helps I can email photos if you like, as a starting point for jetting I started with the fzr400sp needle and jets as they came standard with fcrs in 94ish I believe

Sounds like quite a bit of work but everything I've done on mine has been a project! Yes, please send some pictures when you have a chance. rgv34@yahoo.com

I think the GK76 on youtube is a standard bike painted in SP colors. It has the standard bikes forks so I'm guessing standard. Didn't look like dzus fasteners either on the fairing.
