GSXR 400 SP Shock

Post by guitarman » Tue Jun 17, 2014 1:45 pm

I'm putting my bike back together now and have noticed the damper rod on the rear shock is badly rusted. I could take it to have the rod chromed and reground then serviced. This will cost loads of money so was thinking of changing the shock for a GSXR 600 K7 unit I'v read on here that it fits with some small mods. As this is a much newer unit with more modern technology, do these bikes handle better than the original shock?

Is the K7 shock the same length? So the ride height stays the same?

@Andy - What settings do you put the shock at? i got a k7 750 rear shock on mine, I have SP forks on front and i feel that i have them set-up to an ok setting. But back end feels bit too stiff for my liking, getting throw out my seat allot on bumpy roads.

@guitarman - mine went straight on however i do seem to have a clearance issue at the bottom, however i have had it fitted for nearly two years now and its not broke yet :P
