Hey guys.
I recently picked up a bandit that had been standing for about 5 years.
Replaced the side cover gaskets, it needed a cdi and I went over all the wires. Bought a new battery, changed the oil and filters.
Last night I finally got it to spark and fuel.
But it just won't start.
This is the first bike I've bought as a non runner, and my first Bandit.
So I recon I'll get the carbs off and clean them, then go from there.
Any other suggestions?
The pickup, coils and igniter all tested fine.

Rinse out the fuel tank and ensure you have good fuel filtration so you don't contaminate your freshly cleaned carbs.
Good luck with it.

The carbs will need a good clean and probably new O rings too. Those carbs can be a right pain to set up and get running nicely. I think Litetek do a set of carb O rings and other seals you will need for the job assuming they are the same or similar to GSXR 400 ones.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Thanks for the reply.
The suspence is killing me.
I'll buy new NEW plugs again tomorrow and some new plug chords too.
I see I'm not getting proper blue sparks.

Spark and fuel but no fire?
While looking through the manual today I noticed that my HT Leads might be swopped around?
Coil on the left is (according to the manual) for cylinders 1&4 while the right is for 2&3.
Pretty sure my left connects to 2&3 and right to 1&4.
I'll go check it out tonight when I get home and see what happens.
Also noticed last night that my fuel petcock is leaking. So I'll see if I have another lying around or if I can fix this one...

Once I get it running the next step is to replace the fork seals.

It might not be the petcock itself that is leaking. The gasket between the tank and petcock is notorious for failing as the bike ages. Also noticed last night that my fuel petcock is leaking. So I'll see if I have another lying around or if I can fix this one...

Hi SevenThreeSeven, I've noticed that it didn't work tonight. The carbs aren't getting fuel now. Think the diaphram might have cracked because it doesn't hold a vacuum.
