Gk76a CDI sp code?

Post by chutney » Tue Sep 22, 2015 10:13 am

Hello guys I've basically got an old Cdi with the code 32900-33c50 bb7222 that's gone abit wonky I've been offered a Cdi that has the code 32900-33c20 bb7214 would this work on my gixxer? Both have the long single fitment for the plug so that's the only part I know that'll match up

A 33c20 CDI is from a 1990 SP. I'm not sure on a 33c50 but definitely after 1991. My guess is 1992.

Actually I'm a moron; from my own post I have the 33c50 as the 1990 kit CDI.

I'd gladly buy it from you even if it isn't working. rgv34@yahoo.com

Need to be very careful with this or you will have the classic non runner due to pre / post cdi's
Do you know what year your bike was built (not imported) 59 bhp and 53 bhp cdi's are not interchangeable unless you start swapping pick up triggers etc.

It's a 90 import but after doing some searching on here I think it might be because of the engine being the later model after the old engine was blown up, so I guess I need to search for a <93 timing rotor to go with this Cdi I have now. I looked at the race package thread and my c50 Cdi is in there

I'd triple check to make sure the engine hasn't been swapped out for a standard one. If they put a non SP engine in there, the intake cam will have to be changed as well. If you still have the 35mm carbs with TPS on the side it is a good bet you still have an SP engine in there though. They would have had to fit the bigger carbs into the smaller intake boots.

Don't see why it wont work if they are both 1990, the kit cdi will just add a little advance and raise the rev limit a few hundred rpm.
Can I ask have you got the 33c20 cdi or is this one you've seen.

I've not got the c20 incase it wasn't going to work  I will have to check the engine and have a look at the carb fittings but as for now they do fit the engine that's in there just unsure of the size of them, I should of originally said that the spark is there just not firing in the right order so my mechanic reckons the Cdi might be on the way out, originally the bike was firing on 3 cylinders and fuel was leaking form the carbs i sent it in to have them rebuilt with new rubbers and cleaned, when they put them back on the bike it now isn't firing right, we've tried the coils in different order but still isn't right

Its 1 and 4 , 2 and 3 for the coils.
If the carbs have been of check the plugs are wet, if they are dry it could still be carb related as they are very carb sensitive.

Hi guys not been on in a long time or fiddled with the bike, is there anyway of finding out if the new engine is a normal or sp engine from the outside ie a code or stamp on the casings etc?
