GK71B thoughts

Hi guys,

Second post here, thinking of buying a non running gk71B. 1985, 18400 on the clock,

What are peoples thoughts on them as project bikes?

First thoughts..spares are not easy to get

i see,

some careful thought to go into it.

things such as forks, swing arm etc etc are all going to be changed, just checking the enginer internals etc i guess.

I've got 2 71B's and not had any problems with general spares. However the output shaft can wear really badly as the sprocket is prone to move a little. This turns the square teeth into something altogether more triangular!!! You have to replace the whole shaft or (as one of mine had) weld the sprocket to the shaft!!! Downpipes rot so there aren't many originals about.
The GK71A is the 400FW (even rarer) and it's the same basic engine as far as gaskets etc go.

thank you, i reckon ill still go for the bike im planning to, i think it'll be a good learning process.
