General Opinions?

Post by H D » Thu Aug 11, 2011 2:01 am

Hey guys.

Looking at buying a Bandit 400 in the next few weeks. A guy is selling one with quite a few problems for £100. I think I should be able to get it running with £100 worth. Paintwork will be next then hopefully get it taxed and tested before I pass my bike test, hopefully in December!

Just after some opinions of the bike? I am a taller (and wider ) rider so will be jacking it up at the rear but how is it size wise if any other bigger riders ride them here? Whats reliability like? How easy are they to work on? Handling? Fuel? And just general views on the bikes! Also, anything I should look for other than the usual stuff when rebuilding the bike and any bolt on mods that I may consider (below £50 preferably).

Thanks!

Hi, they are quite small but easily jacked up with some longer dog bones.
Great little bikes and very easy to ride, main problem is a small tank range compared to other bikes.
Have you bought the bike yet? take a good look inside the tank as they are very prone to rusting through and tanks are getting quite rare, if thers no tanks on ebay you need to know the condition before buying or you will not be able to use the bike.

Yeah, I think it is jacked up already.

Tank range doesn't really bother me as my current bike does 60-70 miles to a tank haha!

Not bought the bike yet but I am aware it has been sitting for about 2 and a half years so there is a good possibility it is rusted.

I have heard that when leaving bikes in storage, it is a good idea to fill them with fuel but no idea if this has been done or not. I will ask him, thanks for the input.

Any idea about reliability?

Thanks mate! :)
