I'm in USA and found a zxr 400 with a title and starts what is value?

Ok, so the engine runs, but what about the rest of it? Is it safe to ride (brakes, chain, tyres etc)? Condition of bodywork? They're not too difficult to find over here and therefore an average example isn't too expensive. I've seen them this year going for £1500 - £2000. Cheaper ones are around but would need some work. If it's high mileage and you're going to have to fit new tyres, pads, chain, plugs or more, then obviously the price comes right down. If the bodywork is shabby, or worse, I reckon you're under £1000.
