Hey guys Ive just joined so be nice
Ive recently bought a zxr400 with 30,000kms so i decided to check the valve clearance to be safe and these are the numbers I got
1 2 3 4
EX 0.24 0.25 0.18 0.18 0.24 0.18 0.20 0.18
IN 0.18 0.13 0.14 0.13 0.15 0.13 0.12 0.13

I know the tolerance is EX 0.16-0.21 and IN 0.12-0.17

Obviously most of them need adjustment but what I dont understand is how the clearance on some of them is larger than spec. My understanding was that the clearance tends to tighten as the valve seat wears or is there more to it that that?

The shims can wear as well as cam lobes.
