well, its just passed its MOT, so i guess it deserves a mention on here ..
its taken ages to get it to where it is as Emma uses it everyday for work, so it tends to have bits thrown at it overnight rather than spend a week in the garage getting it all done properly ..
basically its a 1988 ZX4 (ZX400-G) which looks like a mini-ZX-10 (the eighties one) but has a ZXR400-H1 engine, and a very similar frame (subframe isn't removable though) ..
mods so far..
ZXR400-H1 forks
ZXR400-H2 swingarm
ZXR400-H2 wheels
ZXR400-H calipers
floating front discs
goodridge braided hoses
L model mph speedo and matching rev counter
stainless pattern headers (copy of L model zxr)
stock L model end-can
ZXR400-H1 carbs (32mm, original ZX4 is ~30mm)
ZX-4 needles (to match ZX-4 airbox, which is like an H but bigger)
#98 main jets
it did have a micron system on it, but was a bit loud for a commuter bike, and i've nicked it for another bike now :)
also just had,
front wheel bearings
rear wheel bearings
head bearings
swingarm bearings
chain
sprockets
HH pads
replacement fairing/headlight/screen/indicators
it goes, stops, and handles like a zxr.. but has a comfy seat, lower pegs, a fuel gauge, hazard lights (!) and a screen that actually keeps the wind off you at 100mph +
now it just needs some paint to tie the replacement front fairing in with the rest of it.
