Zxr400 l2 (I think)

Post by duanebray_08 » Wed Dec 05, 2012 12:19 am

So I'm in the process of buying a j-reg zxr400. £1800. Is that a good or bad price?? It is a uk bike and is the best condition I have ever seen in the flesh it's close to concourse. It had 6000 miles put on int the fist 3 years and the same bloke has owned it since 95' clocking up a further 7000 miles. So a total of 12,984. I think for the condition it's in it's a good buy. Any common faults I should look out for as all bikes have them. I presently own a vfr400 nc21 86 model so it's a slight upgrade for now. Any hints, tips, comments, criticism welcome.

no common faults, other than problematic hot/cold starting...they are all fine in spring and autumn, but summer and winter occasionally causes problems, usually starter motor, battery, spark/ht related.

other than that just give it a good look over, the header collector box is mild steel...check it for holes. most have had some low-speed crash so check that out. look over the rear brake and shock...but 12k miles for £1800...get it bought :D

mine was 36,000 miles for £1200 for comparrison and needed a good bit of work, yours would have been a better buy for sure.
