Just became a member of the NC29 club last year.
First registered in 1992 but imported to UK and first registered mark here in 1997.

It's dressed up in fireblade colours

I have spent countless hours reading posts on here so I thought I'd just take a minute to join the forum.

Going to be stripping the carbs off for a clean and balance but I'm wondering where the best carb kits are from for these. I'd rather have the spares and not need them than need them and have to wait. I see alot of chinese options online but not sure that's the best route to go. Unless I can be convinced otherwise.

Litetek sells carb seals through GFRacing in the UK which are good seals (seems they sell them through vapourworks as well now,) jets can also be bought through GFRacing as well as they stock all sorts of parts and specialise in the 400 class

Nice to have a place to learn from people and not just a manual.

When I bought it I found alot of rust in the tank so decided it was only right it got a good servicing and recommissioning before I ride it.

I currently have it tucked up in my spare room.
The tank and carbs are off, Just waiting for some cleaning fluids to put the carbs through an ultrasonic cleaner and refresh them properly. The tank has been cleaned with vinegar and resprayed as it was truly horrifying inside the tank when it was drained.
I bought a carb balancing tool and I am thinking about servicing the engine while I'm in here.
It has 56k on the clock and it had very little history with it so I would like to see how the engine has held up over the last 30 something years.
Chassis and forks seem good, no pitting on forks and seals seem nice. I haven't put a lazer down it to see if its straight yet.
So far I'm really happy with the purchase and enjoying learning about these bikes.

So I have decided to contact the guys at GFracing and I'm hoping to get the bike a once over from them over summer time. Engine service, carb clean and balance and replace required parts to be safe.

With not knowing any of the bikes mechanical history and after a few back and forth emails im finding out what's not oem and whats budget parts from ebay id rather have it looked at and done right first time... so far brake levers and disks I'm suspecting reg/rec as it looks brand new are suspect chinese parts so not too bad.

as the mechanical bits can get sorted correctly first time im going to concentrate on the tank and cosmetics now.
I have got the tank stripped and painted white but have to get the stickers sorted to match the fairings and it definitely need a new set of bolts all around lots of misfit fairing bolts and missing fairing bolt cups or just plain old washers.

but the engine work I would rather have someone with the know how and the tools do. I would very much be fumbling my whole way through and I want to know this bike will last another 30 years.

I still can't find how to upload a picture here and think I need to go on a pc to upload but hopefully I'll get some posted this week.
