FZR 400 RRSP BUILD progress....

Post by Alext900 » Sun Mar 05, 2017 9:27 pm

Well since engine is gonna take some time ( waiting on crankshaft info) I have stripped rear brake caliper and refurbished, just waiting on new Pistons n seals, striped master cyl, ready to build again when seals arrive...
did a little plastic welding on new ( but cracked) seat cowling, stripped out clutch and basket, stripped down back wheel ready for blasting ... Powder coat or paint? Usual question I ask myself this stage of rebuild...

Carbs already cleaned thoroughly so they're good to go
new side fairings look good with all of the correct screw holes etc, even have the black plastic air inlet ducts which other set have missing.

Wee tip if stuck rear Pistons in caliper, split calliper put in lathe chuck, tighten up in bore of piston, and twist n pull, worked fine!

Bunch of bits rear subframe, front fairing support, clock support, foot pegs etc ready to go to blasting and powder coating ( with wheels most likely!)

Oh well roll on next weekend...

Yup - a gasket set is about £100.

Are you going to skim the head / barrels ? I found petrol will clean the black deposits left by the old gaskets

What's best for sealing engine casing halves? Where there's no gasket...

Yamabond or Threebond - it's pretty much the same. It might take a bit of researching just to make sure you get the whats recommended

It is exactly the same. We are sponsored at BSB & TT by the manufacturer of it

Can someone measure up rear wheel spacers for me, I need to make new ones, also does the sprocket carrier have a 20 mm Id bore or is it 24mm with bush through it with spacer incorporated?
