Base gasket

Post by StreetFZR » Mon Feb 06, 2017 9:47 am

Long time no post, hope everybody is ok.

I am currently rebuilding my yzf600 motor but in the process of lowering the compression.

Does anybody have an engineering drawing of the 400 3TJ base gasket or YZF600 or FZR600 as they are all the same??

If not I will draw one up but trying to save time as work is taking over my build time.

Also what's the best way find adjustable cam sprockets?? I've had a good Google for days and found nothing but think I might need some once base gasket is raised and longer cam chain fitted.

Is this for forced induction ?
I assume you want to add a spacer at the bottom of the barrels ... ? You could buy some old barrels heat them to take the liners out and cut them down to size or use them as a template for a bit of billet

2No Base gaskets on the bay for £10 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-FZR600 ... Sw44BYUae8

Thanks Boris, Yes this is for my turbo build.

Had it running and had a wayward bolt drop from cam sprocket to snap the cam chain so full rebuild with lower compression.

I have a spare set of barrels from the spare engine I have, never thought of cutting to size and possibly using as a spacer instead of making one out of billet

Cool
I'd use an engineering shop to slot the cam wheels - try Kayla at Projection Components

Could any other barrels be used??

Just checked part numbers and as I expected the FZR 600 4JH is the same.

Any body know the height of 3HE Barrels??

You could use Thundercat. They were nikasil ed so you probably need the T'CAT piston rings as well

Already running T/cat bits, was cross referencing with 3HE but unable to find any specs or sizes

The 3HE crank is a longer stroke than a 4JH / 4TV so it would follow the bore is smaller, probably ok if you take the liners out
