I'm stumped! switched to ac voltage and only getting a reading of 07.4v and that's testing all 3 (1&2 2&3 3&1) something isn't right surely the bike wouldn't run with that kind of voltage, i would like to think this issue may have something to do with the idling problem i have but it's probably not that simple lol there has got to be a problem because i looked in the manual today and the no load voltage is 14.3 volts and I'm only getting 12 / 13 max at idle and it doesn't increase

Yeah i think you're right it's just i have 2 stators one obviously that was in the bike and one that i pulled from a 3he motor and I'm getting poor but different readings from both, at first i thought its hard to believe that both are shot but they obviously are, can anyone confirm weather the 600 foxeye stators actually fir and work in the 3tj because they look different, would i need the foxeye magneto too ?

Your 3TJ alternator should look like this, fix it into the cover and put it onto the bike.

Yep it does look exactly like that, as did the one i pulled from the 3he motor, bolted to the same casing too and not underneath the magneto on the crank case

Probably not a 3he engine then.
The wires on the 4jh (600 engine) casing exit in a different place so it's not quite bolt on. You could take the alternator out of the 4jh casing and put it in the 3tj's ... the bolts are threadlocked so take some force. Or you could cut the casing to match the 3tj and fit it
