Does the rev counter flick to a number at all - that would be a fault code.

Pod filters .... ditch the pods, cut a 600 TCat / Foxeye airbox to fit onto the carbs and shut it to the 3tj airbox. Try the 600 snorkel from the top and use that. You might need to jet all this up but that should be a good place to start.

Alternatively just enlarge the holes in the 3TJ airbox to slide it down the engine, run without a snorkel, a filter or just a pair of tights over the opening.

Works for mine! But I agree, if the ramair filters are pod type filters inside the airbox, junk them.

Thanks for the replys, have used complete tcat electrics ,yes the rev counter swings up to 8k on its own, what fault code is that? Using 3tj airbox modded to fit tcat carbs with gauze stretched over carb trumpets?

I think 8k is the fuel level sender, or it might be the throttle position sender. If you've just plugged the 3TJ fuel pump into the 'cat three pin plug (the other pin is the fuel level sender) then you'll get the 8k fault thinger. You need to splice the 3TJ level sender into the 'cat wiring.

If you have the TJ box you can use a TJ filter or use some filter foam over the opening at the top, you need to filter the air to get the dust / dirt out gauze won't be fine enough

The throttle postion sensor on the carbs ?
If you fit a Foxeye CDI you don't need the TPS

8k is the fuel tank level sender, it should not stop the engine from reving.

On my airbox I just have an old pair of tights stretched across the opening where the snorkel used to be, not had any problems in the last 5 or 6 years and lots of miles! Again, this should not stop it from reving.

Maybe there is a problem with your plugs/leads/coils? Could be that there is not a good enough spark when the revs rise.
