Well I was getting bored so when this came up for buttons I couldn't resist.



The original plan was to just break it for the 2Tk tank cover and seat unit/subframe.



The very knowledgeable Kayla informed me that the engine is Yzf 750.
Unsure if there should be an r behind that ? (someone who knows these may inform !)



Well anyhow,the carrier has just delivered it from Surrey.



It runs,has a working Exup fitted along with a what looks like a FZR1000r rear arm and a 17" rear wheel.



The tank cover and seat unit need a little work and deserve a repaint.

So thats about all until I have time for my own pics and an update.

So what's the plan - tidy up & leave as is or something different? Either way nice looking bike - not a common conversion! I'm sure it'll be treated like the rest of your bikes & be pristine before we know it!! Keep us up to date please.

Yes - the FZR400R SP 2TK was an SP of the Genesis but it also formed the base model for the 3EN bikes that came after it. They had soothbore carbs and the usual SP stuff like close ration box adjustable suspension, lighter valves, single seat, the 2TK has an alloy tank shroud the 3en were steel.

The YZF750 was either a R or an SP version, the SP had flatslides, the later R versions got the adjustable suspension. The carbs will be interesting on this one, they were to wide for the 3TJ fame. Before you do a lot of wotk check the headraces aren't ovaled from wheelies.

I did notice last night that the frame had been messed with and reshaped in order to fit the carbs.
There seems to be about 5mm. clearance each side.
I thought exactly the same as you, on the steering head,especially with weak fork springs.
Not the optimal conversion.I know;but I think something can be made of it.
Just a pity that another 2Tk has been butchered.

It is, and while it'll never be 'standard' again it could be a really cool sleeper. Get rid of the mahooooosive can (it's a dead giveaway!) and try a 3EN2 front fairing on it with 3HE (flat?) headlights. It'll look like a cross between an OW01 and a ZXR750 Maybe even an endurance fairing-

In fact, sell it on to me, I have some Thunderace forks that'd go nicely in it and it'd make an awesome post classic racer! Swap for a 2TK rolling chassis, one careful owner?

Yer,that can was destined for scrap anyhow,whatever happened.
I bought a Harris with the link pipe last night that looks to be about the right scale for the 400 chassis.
My 1000r(ex clubmans racer) has a ow01 race fairing on it so may use that as a mock up for size.


Think i will probably go with one of these,when I get to that stage.(2nd from bottom of page)

As you have with your race build,will go with retaining the lights apperture as you can resell much easier and I have all the lighting set up anyhow.

Also when I arrived home yesterday I had won a set of 1000RU front calipers for the pricely sum of £12.
They are not much of an upgrade for the stock 2TK/3EN series calipers but after fitting blue spots to everything I bought last year,that look is getting a bit stale.
I already have spare Zxr 750 clutch and brake master cylinders to go with them.
The ones fitted are gash.
I also guess a steering damper will be required on it as well but I,'m not going £125 for a Sprint.
The smaller 900 Kawasaki type will have to suffice.
