Been away from here for a while but looks like your having fun evil.

I have got the offending pb magazines where they did there 720cc yzf. I'll do my best to scan them at some point in the near future, i have to say though that there isn't a great deal of in depth info involved.

None the less tts who did the engine work tackled the flywheel problem by cutting the centre out of the flywheel and welding in a centre from a 3he. It worked for a shortwhile but snapped off, twice.

Personally i would find somewhere willing to weld and regrind the crank taper or reposition the triggers. I think using spacers or welding the centre is asking for trouble.

Well ... it's been a "while" and then some.
On Sunday I was encouraged to go to the garage by little wifey - mainly because she was going to have a few friends over and watch italian movies.

So - with my new bosch screwdriver and 1/4, 3/4 + 1/2 driver attachments I think I'd finally run out of excuses. A couple of dummy runs, cos I'm a dummy and it seemed I had the hang of it. I sorted the crankcase bolts by length and put the big bolts for the cranshaft housing in oil. Three Bonded the upper case, dropped on the lower, swore at the front selector fork and did the bolts up.

The gearbox is together and includes the made up oilseal from Thialand. Thats the first time I've put the crankcases together on my own and onlt the second time I've ever done it.

A little further forward I put the sump on and would have done the clutch if I could find the bloody ball bearing and I got the starter gears in too.

More news then.
So having got the clutch in I thought it high time I moved onto that generator. This is what we have, the 3HE crank and the new crank seal.





What I have is the 4JH flywheel and the BDK made filler piece - obvious how it's going to work









Seems to fit ok but then again I'm not going to know until it runs (or not).

Coming on nicely, Does BDK stock that gennie sleave or is a one off.

It's a one off, took ages ... I lost my patience a bit and had a swearing session at them. It's only 1.38mm thick so it's hard to turn apparently, then a key way has to be cut and they also made a deeper woodruff key.
The taper on the crank means 1mm thickness moves the flywheel in quite a lot

So, onwards.
I got the barrels on with a bit of trouble. I caught one of the oil scraper rings on No1 so used one of the old ones. Apart from needing to squeeze eveything all at once and look at the pistons from the front, back and sides it's ... straight forward really.

I need to clean up the exhaust valves next, then the head can go on.
