1994 FZR600R engine transplant

I acquired a 1994 FZR600R engine over the weekend, together with the loom, carbs, CDI and coils. The exhaust is bent due to this being off a crashed bike. The electrics wre stored badly and are wet, so don't know if they work yet (but they were cheap so took them anyway).

Is it possible to just transplant the engine or are the 600's ancilliaries required?

If the 600's engine will go in on the 3TJ loom and CDI then I can transplant the engine and then do the rest at my leisure as the parts turn up.

You can run them from the 3TJ loom and CDI but the wire to the CDI are in a different order and I don't know which ones.
It's going to be best to use the 600 loom and CDI, you don't need the coils but you will need the downpipes as the 600 motor is taller than the 400. You'll also need some brackets made up for the top mounts - ask FZRtim he's done this very conversion.

2007 R6 shock already fitted. Front end converted to 1000EXUP bottoms & damper cartriges with R1 blue spot calipers and 320mm disks. It handles and stops very well.

I'll have to see if this 600 motor runs on its loom before I go messing and buying replacement downpipes. For now I'll just use it as-is. A bit underpowered but much more fun than my oversized FZR1000

Can you tell me if a 600cc fzr engine (4JH) can transplant on a 400cc fzr (3TJ)? I have a 3TJ and i'm about to buy a 4JH engine. So if you have any information about it say some words please. Thanks :)

You need to make sure it has engine mounts on the head like the 600R Foxeye and ThunderCat. The earlier FZR's have frame rails that bolt to a mounting just on the forward gearbox .. the 3TJ doesn't have those.

I have a 3he with a t.cat motor in it..let me see it later and I will tell you the engine code. It does have the mounts on the head and 4JH rings a bell...

Yep - it is a 4JH motor in my 3HE frame.

I fitted the FZR600R 4jh engine into my 3tj. You have to use the 600 cdi as evilchicken said the firing order is different. I grafted the 600 cdi into the 400 loom but now have problems with the tacho jumping to 8500 rpm every 10 secs. I would recommend using the 600 loom as it was a nightmare to sort out!
My bike is on the pb forum (my project) and i can tell you the conversion is well worth doing! I like the 3tj more than my rsv factory r, its just so easy to ride!
