Re: broke down today, battery not holding charge?
The regulator rectifier could have cooked the battery - happened to me.

Re: broke down today, battery not holding charge?
honda's have rubbish as a charging system and while I wouldn't rule the reg reg out it could equally be the alternator.
First, check the wiring and the connections by opening the block conectors and cleaning them.
Charge the battery over night and take a volt reading from it in the morning, it should be about 12.5 to 13volts.
Put it back on the bike and make sure the terminals are done up. Start the bike and let it run for a while and again take a volt reading it should be at around 14.5 volts. Now rev the engine and see if the volts "spike", if it goes up to 15 or 16 volts the reg rec's duff, and needs replacing. Likewise if the system undercharges it could be the reg rec.
If theres no rise in the charge with the engine just running the the alternator isn't charging. Take it off the bike and look for anything bent or broken, if the windings are discoloured then it will need replacing.
