Hi, just bought a 1WG 3EN1 and only just getting used to all the different models out there but can't quite find a straight answer to my question. 8-)
My bike revs freely to 14k but i'm not sure if it's speed restricted as i can't physically go over 80mph yet due to an oversized rear tyre hitting the swingarm, (allready on the bike when i bought it)...but that's another story. :P

So to my question.... Would not fitting a mechanical Kph to Mph convertor to the top end of the speedo cable not trick the Kph limiter to thinking its not going fast enough to cut-in ???

I'm sure you guru's on here will put me straight ;)

Your right - but - You have to use a GOLD one at the bottom.
The blue one won't allow the cable to bend inside the fairing. It might be wise to look under the top fairing and check there isn't a M-Max box plugged in.

lol..why you riding a bike where the tyre hits the swingarm enough to slow you down?

That is pretty bonkers!

You were right though...this palce will sort it and in the FZR forum..EvilChicken is king.. :twisted:

Well.... i've only been out once and this is when we discovered the problem :down:

The rear tyre is a 70 profile so it's very close to the front of swingarm, but once you speed up a bit the tyre grows slightly, then rubs, then leaves a nice blue haze behind you reminicent of a 2 stroke :o thankfully this was spotted in my rear view mirror and by a friend on the bike behind me before any misshaps occurred.

I have to add that the bikes not going anywhere until i fix the problem..... maybe next time out i can confirm if it is still restricted :whistle:

that is not cool! I guess you have a balloon tyre on there then..

Actually the tyre is fine as it only rubbed briefly and was right in centre of tyre.
There is no visible damage to the tyre so i'm looking to just move it back away from the swingarm as i was more than happy with it's performance on the corners :grin:

I'd junk the tyre and put the propper profile one on there. If you looked for a 150 profile tyre you'll be able to include the NC30 rear and get more choice of part worns.

The practicle way to move the tyre is a longer chain (maybe add a extra soft link) or reduce the size of the rear sproket, but that will raise the gearing and loose acelleration

That is exactly what I've done. A new longer chain is in the post as like I mentioned I loved the handling with that rear tyre, i'm a bit used to bigger bikes so maybe it helps me feel more confident...... not sure yet. Lol

New chain fitted, now have over an inch of clearance from the tyre to swingarm, just the job, can't wait to have another go on it now :grin:

Maybe i'll find out if it is still restricted, ( on a local track of course ) 8-)

The restriction comes in at 112 mph / 180 kmh ... plus a little so it's not really an issue.
Fitting the mph converter helps with riding in speed limits and through cameras it's better than looking at a sticker and hoping.
