4DX Valve clearance settings.

Hi,does anybody know the valve clearance settings,and procedure/sequence for checking them on a 1992 fzr400 4dx ? thanks,steve.

It will be the same as the 3TJ - have a look in general and find the manual download.
Set Number 1 to TDC (cam lobes pionting away from each other) and check inlet + Exhaust. Find the cams pointing straight up (12 o'clock) and check them. Turn the engine to Number 4 TDC and repeat the checks.
If the tollerances are out
Mark the cam wheels and chain so you can return the cams to the same position. Lock the engine. Lift one cam (undo the bolts in sequence) find the thickness of the shim under the bucket and do the maths to find the thickness required. Replace the shims and retorque the cam journals in sequence.

Turn the negine by hand any unusual resistance - stop - and check the cam is aligned with your mark on the chain.
