Hi Chris,

Welcome to the site.

Couple of things..less of the CAPS PLEASE ;)

ALso, stop revving the nuts off it - it is obviously poorly and needs looking at before you kill it..so exhausts and so on are nowhere on your horizon at the moment.

Stick a post up in the workshop section for FZRs and we'll help you figure out how fucked it is

This is the right place to get it sorted,....and then we'll see about exhausts :rocks:

First thing is pull the plugs out - make a note of what they loo like and which cylinder they come from - the numbers should be on the HT leads, if not No1 is nearest the side stand.
Your looking for black oil on the plugs or black soot.
It would be better to replace them as a set but if your strapped for cash you can wipe them with a rag and give them a brush with a copper brush before putting them back.

Now you need to have a look inside the petrol tank with a torch to see if it's clean. Replace the fuel filter, take off and clean the carbs - if you haven't done this before say and we'll adivse on it.

How much oil is in it ???? - you'll need to replace the oil and the oil filter, if the level is low it can cause an engine to smoke but I'm not going to say that's your problem.

To be honest first impression doesn't sound to good but let us know about the plugs and fuel and we can take it from there .... can you post some pictures ??? that helps too.

You checked the oil through the sight glass on the right of the engine below the clutch, with the bike balancing upright (get somebody to hold it for you ... snigga) ???

Right then take the dummy tank off and then the airbox - use the proper size phillips screw driver. Now turn the fuel "off" take the fuel tap lever off and don't loose the screw, now take the tank off.Undo the choke lever Undo the the clips holding the carbs on the rubbers, pull the carbs, pull them again, and again .... say the magic words "come of you fuckers" and then "ow shit" when you skin your fingers. Now undo the throttle cables.

Spead a lage sheet of white paper on a table and undo and clean each carb separately so you don't get the bits muddled up. Use a 1/4" drive ratchet and extension with (again) the correct size screwdriver bit. Push down on the screw and turn the ratchet. If they round out you'll need to cut them with a junior hacksaw then use a flat blade bit, replace them with allen head bolts.
Undo the float bowl take the float out and see if it has any petrol in the float, then undo the carb top (there's a spring under it so be careful, then take out the side with the needle. Clean it all with carb cleaner and check the diapham isn't pinholed or torn. Take out the the brass jet (one by one) and blow them through with the carb cleaner then replace it, then do the other. Put it all back together. Clean up the othside of the carbs with paraffin and a small paint brush and slap them back on the bike (put the throttle cables on first).

That should take care of Sunday  ;)

That is not neccessarily the case, take the bike off the stands, hold it upright on a level surface and check again ;)
