why is my engine not stamped???

finally getting round to stripping my fzr 400 1wg genesis non exup blah blah blah and my engine is only stamped 1wg with no engine number stamped is this normal???

Has the engine been out before? Any marks on the mount bolts etc? May have been swapped from a warmer machine....

ha ha could have been! lol but theres no signs of number removal or anything just 1wg then blank

Welcome to the FZR400 ...
All the engines have 1WG there's no engine number on any of them.

that would explain it then! ha ha very strange! i had a 600 3he model and thats my only other fzr experience funnily enough that had 1wg engine parts!

The fairing on the 600 (3HE) is stamped 3EN .... I think it's because the 400 bikes were developed first then those parts got used in the 600 production

Don't worry about it. All Yamaha Japanese imports have that type of engine number. My TRX, the TZR250 I've got now, the 3TJ I had and the RZ250 basket case I had a few years ago were all like that.
