exup cables
I'm having a bit of trouble with my 2TK. It starts and ticks over fine but when I ride it and try to accelerate it seems to be holding back. If the exup cables were fitted the wrong way round would this give the symptoms that my bike has at the moment?

Re: exup cables
Not sure what you mean by holding back but I accidentally switched the cables on my 3tj and it'd rev all the way in neutral but wouldn't go past 9k rpm in any gear. Hope it helps.

Re: exup cables
You might have put the cables on to tight slacken them at the top on the adjusters and only do them up finger tight. Remember to lock the pulley with a pin or small bolt when you adjust them.
Make sure the cables are in good condition especially low down.

Re: exup cables
I checked the cables and they were the wrong way round. it's much quieter at low revs now as well as the valve is closed. still not running 100% right though, I've got a spare set of coils so I'll try that next.
Cheers for all the advice guys.

I might give that a go, changed the coils and it's still the same.

Re: exup cables
It does sound a bit like carbs, clean them up and check the diaphrams one might have a pinhole in it.

Re: exup cables
took the carbs off today, all the diaphrams were ok but one main jet had a slight blockage. put everything back together and it now goes like stink.
Thanks for the advice, much appreciated
