Interesting huh ?
BDK Racing make a ride height adjuster, I'm sure they'd make one a bit longer if they were asked to. This could make this an easier mod than using the R6 shock as the spring rate seems closer to the 400's standard setting.
One of the guys seems to dis it a bit saying about the shock length being either 345 or 335, that's a bit of a red herring. If the bike sits at the wrong height when the shock is properly set up you'll simply change it on the top mount. With a bit of experimentation they'll have some base settings making the whole thing easy to do.

That's a good idea, but maybe the R6 reservoir will foul on the swingarm if you move it down too far. You'd have to move the R6 shock down another 25 to 30mm or so from where the GSX-R shock is moved to.

Does anyone know what the spring rate is on the k8 shock at all in comparison to the FZR shock at 325lbs?

The 3TJ is sprung soft as standard, and the shock itself is going to have different charicturistics anyway ... your not comparing like for like

ahh...
I am wondering, as being a 10 and a bit stone guy, i'm not exactly that heavy, therefore the r6 shock would probably need a spring change for me (and more costs....

)
Just kinda wondering if this would be a better (or cheaper) option?

I was having a poke around the 'net when i stumbled across a thread about fitting a shock into an SV650, it had a list of different shock lengths which looked interesting...

Kawasaki ZX10 1988-1989 314.5 67
Kawasaki ZX10R 2004-2005 338 (+7/-5) 69
Kawasaki ZX12R 2000-2005 338 (+7/-5) 67
I have highlighted the best looking options of the Suzuki shocks, might be worth a gamble on any of those 2 slotting straight in the 3TJ without any modifications, or with just a adjustable top mount. I am only assuming that the shock length measurements are eye to eye.

Tha factory spring rate for the GSXR K8 shock is 9.5 kg/mm or 532 lbs/in in old money.

I had an SP shock but it needed a rebuild. I sent it off but they needed a bump stop and couldn't find or make one. The rod is an odd size too.
An ordinary shock costs about £80 to rebuild, so you might as well look for a different shock and mod the fitting. 10mm is a nut and a couple of washers on a bolt
