Hybrid questions

Post by yamash-up » Sat May 08, 2010 4:07 pm

Hi I'm from The Netherlands. Today I sold my thundercat frame and some other stuff, but kept the engine for a hybrid project. It will have some USD front end and a thunderace swingarm (I got a spanking new one off ebay).

I can't wait to get my greasy hands on a mint 3TJ frame.

Anyway I've been stalking these boards for quite some time to get inspiration for my project. ;)

I have some questions.

What is the yoke offset on the 3TJ's (30mm I guess?)?

What's the fork length on the 3TJ's?

Thanks.

Yep also from the PB forum, but haven't posted much over there except for the ooh's and aaahhhh's about THE hybrid projects over there (you know which ones).

Luckily that person has also answered my questions regarding offset and fork length.

:rocks:

Anyway I got a very very shiny and clean engine begging for a good frame.

Once I've got my hands on one, I'll post some pics of the stuff I gathered from other yamaha's (hence the mash-up in my nickname).

I'm not sure how things stand with importing stuff to Netherlands but with the £ weak against the Euro now is the time for you. If I was in your position I'd look for a complete bike then sell of the bits you don't need.
If you look for something nearish to a ferry port you could come over buy it and be back the next day (sleeping on the ferry).

Yeah I know bout the euro/pound rate. Because of the euro bailout things are looking bright again. I'm stalking ebay daily for a mint frame, without luck. I'll be using only the frame and maybe the tank and some small bits. Still thinking about bringing a whole bike over and slaughtering it for parts and sell the stuff on.

Maybe I can even ride the thing back home. At 1.89 and 98 kg's that'll look great! I think i'll sit on the pillion seat.

Ah thanks for the offer. I'm either going to buy a full bike or a frame first. If it's going to be only a frame, I'll start buying the sundry stuff afterwards.

the parts I already have:
thunderace swingarm
thundercat engine, carbs, loom
r1 goldspot calipers
yzf 750 top yoke and clipons + controls

the parts I have to buy: to much to mention. But the list is in my head.

Tcat frame didn't get crazy money. I wanted to get rid of it quickly.
