Vacuum pressure is....?

Post by Strikmabill » Wed Mar 17, 2010 1:59 pm

While I'm waiting for my Morgan Carbtune to arrive  can anyone tell me the correct vacuum pressure for my 93 3tj? I have the manual that I'm guessing everyone does (FZR400SP_3TJ-ME1_91.PDF) but it's for the SP model. Besides it shows two different values, 145mmHg on page 16 of the pdf file and 230~270mmHg on page 35. Don't want to cram the forum with new posts but couldn't find anything with the search option. Thanks in advance.

By the way, i can't find where to fit the hoses to the carbtune. I took the carbs apart to clean them and can't find anything on them to connect the carbtune hoses. I think 1WG inlet manifolds have little tubes sticking out and that's where you're suppost to connect the carbtune hoses right? But I can't find them in my 3tj inlet manifolds.. can you tell me where they are? Thanks.

I'll have to look for it better but I didn't see one. And I had the carbs off for the last 2 months give or take as I didn't have much time and my valve check was a nightmare.

These are from a 1WG I think

But I'm almost sure my inlet manifolds don't have that bit sticking out. Some carbs have those bits on top but mine sure don't. I'm guessing you racers out there know where to plug the hoses in, enlighten me please!

Cheers.

Ok good news and bad news. Good news is I'm an idiot and it's obvious just by looking at the inlet manifold which screw it is that must be removed to screw in the adaptor for the carbtune hoses. Bad news is they're completely stuck. Sprayed some wd40 on them, only on the outside, and we'll see if it does anything tomorrow. Is it a good idea to use an impact wrench here? Are 17 year old manifolds able to take the beating? Took some pictures (with my phone because my camera died the minute I turned it on)

Now all i need to do is get them out
