3EN1 : Coolant Temperature Gauge

Post by BlueR32 » Fri Dec 20, 2024 2:44 pm

Ever since I've owned the bike the temp gauge on my 3EN1 barely gets past the lower stop even when riding in hot weather. So either the bike runs super cool or there's something else amiss. I've run through all the diagnostics in the workshop manual and everything checks out, however I did find the troubleshooting steps a bit confusing. I replaced the sensor but that didn't make any difference. Any ideas/thoughts/input welcome!
Thanks

Update: I ran through all the troubleshooting checks again and discovered that the gauge itself is not working. I must have missed this first time around. When I connected the brown & black terminals directly to the battery, the needle barely moved. It's supposed to swing all the way to Hot. Now in search of a replacement gauge!

Common item used on all FZR models, plus the Thundercat/ace. I'm sure I have some somewhere as I still have loads of FZR bits.

Thanks I discovered the same thing except that some of the clock faces are a bit different. I did find one on ebay from the FZR1000 (PN 2GH-83590-00) which is an exact match.
