Caliper seals and replacements !
Evening all, I'm after a bit of help as I'm at a loose end with this Now. Iv tried two different suppliers now for a couple of sets of replacement caliper seals for a 3tj2 sp and both time they have been wrong. I then sent then the correct sizes needed by measuring the original seals and apparently the seal manufacturers don't make them!! Has anyone else had an issue with this ? Does anyone know which specific model r6 calipers I need to upgrade the originals on the bike and where to source the adapter kits from. Thanks.

Re: Caliper seals and replacements !
All the "spot" callipers are the same bolt spacing and piston diameter ; blue,silver and gold
It is the piston material apparently that is different on the colour reference.
The Thundercat ones have a external link pipe rather than an internal drilling and are not so much desired and hence cheaper.
This opens up more options for a search.
Someone once stated that the bleed nipple was in a different position on various models; I have blue/silver spot
callipers on 8 different bikes, all bought s/hand and the nipples are all in the same position so I do not know how right that info is !
Are the adapter brackets not a one off item ?
I have not seen a manufacturer advertising them.
There is a thread here;

Someone may chime in with the seal kit info.
If you go the blue spot route a compatible master cylinder is advised.

Try a place called Powerhouse automotive the guy is really helpful just give him the piston size and he should be able to hook you up!

Re: Caliper seals and replacements !
According to the parts manual the larger caliper seals are 3GM-W0047-00 and the smaller seals are 3MA-W0047-10.
I would imagine they are still available from Yamaha - if costly.
They come in pairs I think but you would still need 4 sets of each. If you search ebay for the part numbers they do come up. Try ebay.de too!

Re: Caliper seals and replacements !
Well I can tell you straight off, with that info from Chris;
3GM are Yamaha FZR 1000r parts and 3MA are TZR 250 ; both circa 1989 so will still be readily available.

I already stated the 3GM prefix seals are from the Fzr 1000.
Your calipers have 2 different sized pairs of pistons;
The larger piston seals originated on the FZR 1000 and the smaller from the 3MA TZR 250.
Your caliper has parts from both models.
If you ordered a pattern seal kit from the 1000; you will only have half the seals you need; the other two will not fit .
If you order genuine parts from a dealer using the two part numbers they will be correct.
If you can find a seller of pattern parts that knows dimensions or what fits what ; he may cobble a full set up as happened with Mang.
The FZR 1000 caliper is not the same as the 3TJ ;only 2 of the pistons and 4 of the seals are.
Edited for clarity.
