Hi my mate has just bought a very tidy fzr 400 3en, the guy he bought it off claimed it has kent cams in it, but didnt have any documents to prove it other than a kent cams sticker on the bike.
now dont worry my mate didnt pay stupid money because the guy said it had kent cams, he got it at a stupidly low price.
my question to you is how can we identify whether the cams are kent items, im assuming this would involve taking the cam cover off unless there is another way i dont know about?
cheers,
Ben.

There's no way of knowing unless you have the cams out and measure them.
Other than that it should rev a bit more quickly than a standard machine ... but if you open the really quick from low revs it might bog down before it comes on cam.
Best thing is to ingore the sticker or take it off then ride the bike - if it goes well that's good enough.

Re: Fzr 400 3en Kent Cams?
its not the biggest deal, its just my mate bought the bike to do up and sell on for a bit of a profit, but the bike turned out to be really nice. Was only enquiring about the cams as it would add a bit of appeal if he wants to sell it.
I had a ride on it and it revs up really nice and clean but i wouldnt know if its any different to a standard fzr.

Kent Cams reprofile the original ones so they look the same as original ones - leave the sticker on and hint to it in the sale, it's a "nice to have" but the only way they're of any real use is if the rest of the engine's been tunned.

When kent re-profile a cam they stamp a KC **** model number into the end of it, if you take off the cam cover you will see it (or not) it may well be an SP cam as kent re-grind the stock cams to SP spec in which case you will need to measure them.
