Re: Stupid fzr :(
When you turn the ignition on does it make a "weep weep" sound ? That should be the exup servo cycling open and closed.
Do you hear a ticking sound that goes for a while and stops ? That's the fuel pump priming. Wait till it stops and flick the ignition off and on the pump should time out quickly this time. If it doesn't then it could be the carb float bowl gaskets are worn and maybe leaking.

Re: Stupid fzr :(
About those carbs & O-Rings that EC mentioned.
In my humble opinion and using my 3TJ1 as a basis for evaluating the Mikuni BDST carbs:
1/ There are no comprehensive seal kits on planet Earth that I can find.
2/ There are some kits but they do not include throttle shaft seals or choke seals.
3/ Very few of those kits use Viton and since alcohol fuels are widespread they should be.
4/ A lot of them include the float needle, which is Viton tipped, and one of the only parts that you might NOT need to replace.
5/ They are all way too expensive and since they are not complete you will have to spend a fortune on the missing parts plus all the postage or shipping if you finally find them.
6/ Genuine parts cost the planet. Just the O-Rings from the cheapest genuine source in the USA will run you about $240 for the 4 carbs.
7/ From what I have read on the internet these carbs need to be in good condition for the bike to run correctly. This is not as obvious as it seems. It has been my experience that a lot of the old style DellOrto, Bing, Amal, Mikuni and Keihin carbs could be in quite shabby nick and you could still get reasonable idle, low speed running etc.
You might think that the throttle shaft seals last forever and that you don't need to replace them because nobody else talks about them. Only 2 of the 6 seals in my carbs were intact. In a lot of cases new O-Rings might get you through but you have to consider how old these bikes are now.
Since I am reconditioning my BDST carbs I have to go through this pain. However I am trying to put a comprehensive kit together at the same time. The choke is the last piece of the puzzle for me. If I get to the end of this then I will put together a reconditioning guide.
