3TJ Direct wheel swaps
I've been told some TZR 250 wheels are direct swaps with the 3TJ, other than having to mount the correct diameter brake rotors. I figure others might be interested in the info so I'm going to try and nail it all down. What I've dug up so far...
Front wheels - Confirmed Direct bolt in for 3TJ other than swapping rotors
TRX850
FZR600R (4JH)
TZR250 (Not 2MA or earlier) - 3" wide
SZR660 - 3" wide
FZS600 Fazer - 3" wide
Front wheels - Unconfirmed direct swap for 3TJ other than swapping rotors?
TZ250?
FZR600R Foxeye
Rear wheels - Unconfirmed direct swap for 3TJ other than swapping rotors?
Anyone got additional info to share? Part numbers for aftermarket wheel sets that bolt into the 3TJ would be cool to document also, I know Marvic lists FZR400 wheels for example but they don't say the year or model...

TRX850 front
FZR600R Foxeye & FZS600 Fazer Fronts (I think)
The discs are the same
The SRZ660 could be a single disc and might not have any threads on the non disc side but you'll probably have to aske Kayla

Re: 3TJ Direct wheel swaps
All the references I've seen to the SRZ say the rotor mounts are present on the other side, just blocked by a cover.

Re: 3TJ Direct wheel swaps
fzs600 fazer front wheel and discs is a stright swap though the fazer front rim takes a 110/70 tyre. i know this as i put a 3tj front wheel and discs in my fazer work hack so i could use a 120/70 front and put my track scrubs on it!

Re: 3TJ Direct wheel swaps
The only straight swaps for the 3TJ front wheel are the FZR600R (4JH) and the TRX850, although the TZR/SZR wheels will fit straight in they're 3" wide not 3.5". The SZR wheel has disc mounts on both sides too. I haven't found a rear wheel that's the same (yet!) which is why I'm still banging my head and trying to get the (much cheaper and much more available) 5" wheel from the 4JH/4TV/TRX850 to work

Re: 3TJ Direct wheel swaps
Thank you for the additional info, I've updated the list again. I've got to remember to save some cash so I can go shopping amongst your Ti bits at some point, as we as snagging some of the CF frame protectors you're working on.

Re: 3TJ Direct wheel swaps
I found Dymag's 2011 fitment catalog which includes base dimension diagram numbers for all sorts of bikes. While they don't supply the actual dimensions, anywhere you find a set of bikes that Dymag uses the same dimension chart for you can safely assume the wheel itself will swap amongst those bikes without mods.
http://www.orientexpress.com/PDFs/DymagCatalog2011.pdf
For the FZR 400 RR and RR SP the front wheel is listed as using diagram B 1622 A. This wheel design is listed for the following machines:
TZR250 (No more details provided?)
FZR400 RR SP 91-92
FZR400 RR 92-95
XJR400 95
FZR600R 94-95
TDM850 96-98
The rear wheel uses diagram B 1591 A, no other bikes seem to use that diagram so I suspect as noted by others, there isn't a direct swap available. Supposedly the catalog above is NOT their complete listing, but I don't have huge hopes of stumbling upon a cheap swap any time soon now.
On the other hand, Orient Express is offing a special deal on the latest Dymag carbon units, $3k for a pair.... I suppose I could sell off a couple bikes... :D

I don't have the cash to snag these, wonder how much work they'd be to adapt?
