High beams working the exup valve and fuel pump!!!??????

Hi guys,
i was wondering if anyone could help me with a major problem im having.
my problem started when i decided to strip down my fzr 400 1wg and turn it into a naked, kinda modern caff racer looking bike.

I got a single light off a GS 500 and a ducati monster seat. i thought the seat would be the biggest job, chopping the subframe but this all ran smoothly.

The Light was a different story!!!!

I fitted the light, all went okay. but when it came to trimming the wiring front loom down, i run into the problem.

i cut off spare headlight fitting and joined them to the ones running to the gs500 light. all okay. i then cut off the wires that run to the the instrument lights such as the oil light and neutral light, and at the moment these are still all loose not join to anythinhg else.
the lights all work fine and as do all the buttons.

But!!! When i switch the run switch on then the exhaust valve opens and the fuel pump turns on as it should. but it also does this when i turn my lightso n full beam. some how my exhaust valve and petrol pump is getting power from my lights!! but all ive done is joined the light wires together.

i think the solving factor is that the lights work fine when the run is turned off (kill switch turned on) or if the main bulb is removed.

i think somewhere the high and low beam wires must be making a connection with the kill switch.

hopefully there some one out there thats had the same problem. some one whose raced one or stripped one like im trying to do.

CHEERS BEN

are you sure your battery is fully charged and a decent one? might be nackered, meaning every time you put on the main lights, it takes away all the power from the system and resets the relays as though the bike has been stopped.this then causes the fuel pump to prime again and the exhaust valve to do another cycle. just plug our battery charger on to it whilst your doing it and this should eliminate it if its that causing it. (a proper battery charger not trickle type)
