First time poster here so please bear with me if any of this has been asked in the past.

Been riding my FZR since passing my test in April this year, although i love the bike there are one or two things i would like to change/sort. First off is the speedo being in kph, i believe you can get the little blue or gold converters to mph, my mate has an NC30 and he has just fitted the blue one under the speedo, from readin through previous posts in this forum i think the gold one is the one for my bike, is this correct??
Also my needle on my speedo wobbles like hell, nothing major but is there anything i could check to try to stop this as it does bug me??
One last thing, does anyone know if i can get a top yoke cover, preferably carbon for my 89 FZR400 R Exup, the only one i can find are for the 1990 and onwards bikes.

Yup you need a gold one which screws in at the bottom of the cable.

Try a new speedo cable to stop the needle flicking. make sure it's in the bottom first and propperly located and then do the top again make sure it's properly located. If it isn't the cable will break.

I don't know of any yoke cover ... and they're a bit naff to be honest. If your's is the flat style why not get a sander on it and take it down then polish it. Takes ages though

Motrax do stick on effect carbon sheet. You could make your own yoke cover from some of that - although I'm with Evil there, polish it up or powder coat it black. Or, Nitromoors the factory finish off and then use some Sperex engine enamle spray (black or silver - black is best IMO) from Hi-Level. If you use Sprex, put it in the oven n(the yoke, not the spray can) when the Mrs is out for 15 minutes before you spray it as you will get a much stronger and cleaner finish.

Flicky speedo usually just needs cable lubing (light weight oil like 3in1)

Unless it's teflon coated internals (standard on control cables) then oil will cause the teflon to swell

Light oil works on speedo cables just fine (based on lots of personal experience of a speedo jumping between 140 and 160).

It's cheaper than your suggestion of a new cable and if it screws it up then he's got your option of a new one.
