He guys

I’m new to this board, and first of all I would to say tanx guys for all the inspiration and tips which I found on this board. After I broke for the second time in a row the crank of my 400rr I saw the topis of fzrtim on the PB site about his hybrid 4/6 build.
So of I went, bought myself a foxeye engine put it in the bike. The electrics where quit a nightmare but in the end I toke the Ignitech CDI (Ignitech.cz) I had on my exup 1000 and wired it into the loom of the 400. I can recommend de Ignitech CDI to everybody with a hybrid and especially the guys which are running it on the track. With the CDI wired into the loom I finally got it was up and running. and did my first track day on the bike. And guess what and I´m afraid I´m hooked to this roundy roundy stuff.
First want to sort a few things out like gearing and suspension, and some race plastic, but after that I’m definitely heading back for the track what a buzz.

Just one question I´m going to put my Technoflex race shock from my exup 1000 into my 400 with a softer spring. But to keep the suspension in balance I would like make the front suspension a little bit stiffer does anyone know if it worth the try to put the spring of a ’90 exup 1000 into the 400 forks?

cheers

(photos will follow, will have to read again the FAQ :oops: )

You need to have a look at Plodder's bike, I think he used FZR 1000 fork lowers on his bike with the 320mm discs and Blue Spot brake calipers.
Not sure about the shock - the 3TJ has a longish shock.

Welcome to the forum and I'm looking forward to some pics of your bike - where are from ?

Here are a few pics of the bike, its still a proper sleeper everything is still original.
Apart from:
* A '94 foxeye engine with carbs.
* A Bos FZR400rr full race system which was big enough to go directly onto the 600 motor.
* And a Ignitech ignition system.
* Some exup 1000 clocks.

For now it is just with trumpets of the 600carbs, but that’s just not working. So next week I’m going to modify the airbox like fzrtim described in his topic. And also will be changing the gearing since I was not able to get it into sixth on a 1 mile straight :roll:

Yep :up: well I'm actually not spanish but I happen to life about 10min. from Montmelo. Photo where taken on the barcelona circuit during one of the race training days. Good to see there are more 3TJ lovers down south.

I used the damping inserts from the 89 FZR1000 forks to increase stiffness but not the springs. The springs are too long in any case.

I am using a FZR1000 Nitron shock with a 425 spring and it suits the bike better for road use than the 06-07 R6 shock, which is much stiffer. The original 3TJ shock was soft and horrible.
