Thanks fella's I think my best option would be to get some kph clocks and a converter then. I'll try the wanted section for a 4DX CDI just to see but would prefer it with KPH clocks as it should be for the model of bike want it to remain reasonably standard! Speaking of which the nose cone and in fills are off an SP woud like to do something about that in the future. Would look nice in that style but with correct paint match. I'll try and get some pics up soon, I hear you like pic's on here ;)

If I were you I'd have a bid on that CDI and see how far you get.
You could always fit the KMH clocks after, personally I find KMH clocks are pain because you don't know what the speed limits are.

i'm with boris, go for the 4dx cdi on the bay
kph clocks might be original for your model, but you have to have a mph speedo overlay anyway (it sticks on the outside of the speedo glass) so you can read mph, only you can,t, well not accurately anyway, and you'll end up painting dots on the speedo housing so you can read at a glance, speeds like 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70 and that aint pretty

as for the nose cone and infills, i think you'll find their the same for all the 3tj models, unless you meant the paint scheme
check out the model identifier below

Thanks for the link, I'll have a punt on that as long as stand cut out and fuel reserve still work! As for the clock's I think your right KPH clock's are a pain although I would use a converter, however it makes sense to stick with MPH on our roads. The nose cone is off a 3TJ2 by the looks of the models in your link. The red isn't metallic not sure about the white, probably different too. Are the number boards stickers and does anyone know where I can get paint codes and best place for paint also can you still get sticker sets for 3TJ???
Thanks for all your help :rocks:

The sidestand circuit has been de-activated ;most likely the MAIN tank also.
Electric fuel tap Yamahas run reserve selection by default.

if you mean the stand cut out and fuel reserve work now, then they still will with the 4dx CDI ;)

you can't get a decals kit for the 3TJs (as far as i know)
but if you have old ones on the bike you can get them copied, or find someone who knows what their like, ie check out brooky on here in the traders section

Hi,Keny,
No;the unit is not mine.
I have a TC I unit that is similarly doctored; but to extend the rev. limiter on this;

It displays all the symptoms Boris quoted;
"You could also have your CDI doctored to remove the restriction, this however takes out a circuit that also controls the side stand cut out the fuel "res" and possibly the red limiter. The reserve on these isn't a tap, the CDI gets a signal and it closes down 2 cylinders, if you flick the switch it turns off the signal and the engine fires normally."
