HEL Rear brake line 3EN1 (Found a suplier now)

Post by Clanky » Sun Apr 07, 2013 4:14 pm

I got a rear stainless brake line from HEL last year for an FZR 3EN1. Product code DC1.

I got round to fitting it today but it won't go. One of the new banjo fittings has a 45 degree angle the other is straight. The original hose has 20 degree fittings each end and the hose is about 1 cm longer.

I can 'make' the new hose fit but the 45 degree fitting at the caliper end puts too much curve in the hose and I know it is under too much tension.

Before I go speak to HEL I'd like to get some things straight. They don't list hoses for a 3EN1 but they have sets for the 1WG which I was told were the same. Is it right that the rear hose from a 1WG should fit the 3EN1? Is it possible I have a hose meant for the 400RR?

Thanks for any help.

Ok,

Been looking about on Google but can't get a very decent image of the two calipers for comparison but as far as I can tell the 1WG has a different style caliper to the 3EN1 (assuming mine is fitted with the original caliper).

The pic below shows the 1WG set up (top) and mine (bottom).

The banjo mounting points on the calipers are in totally different places so the HEL hoses for the 1WG wont fit the 3EN1 (or at least mine).

I'm going to call HEL tomorrow to see if I can order a suitable hose and if I get a part number I'll put it up in case anyone else wants it.

This isn't a clear image of the caliper but it has the mounting on the top - like the gold one in your pic
It's a 3EN2

Thanks EC that does help.

I've just been in touch with an independent HEL supplier (Helmobile in Somerset). Spoke to a guy called John who was very helpful. Says he can make it up tonight, despite going to Thruxton tomorrow to run a stand, and post it to me in the morning.

Price was very good too £27.00 delivered.

I'll post a review when I get the part. Here's a link to their custom web page:

That's useful I need a couple of lines for the Bimota.

Just a quick update.

The hose from Helmobile arrived this morning, came with all the usual stainless fittings and banjo bolts/washers, and it fitted like a glove  I am chuffed to bits, one more thing to tick of the list before the MOT.

Brilliant service from Helmobile and very friendly to deal with. Their prices for; hoses, fittings, nipples and stuff are really very good. I will be definitely be going to this guy from now.
