Hi all,
I have started a weight list and I am keeping it on one of my web pages. The idea is to list those items that might be considered for removal or replacement with a lighter alternative. For example, one could replace the ignition switch and key with a Motogadget m-Lock for a saving of 360grams. I will also update the weight list here so that it reflects any updates.
All contributions gratefully accepted and I am sure it could be handy for all of us who are weight conscious. Please post here if you have any weights to contribute, in grams please. Also try to keep bolts and screws separate as some members might want to exchange them for lightweight items.
Why do all this? Well 400s are fun. I am too old to ride a 200hp, one litre superbike, and I don't think I could have ever ridden such a bike to its potential regardless of my age. However the 400s are something else.
My goal is to drop 30kg off a Genesis model without resorting to carbon wheels, and if I ever make a success of this business then I would like to fit a rotrex supercharger (pipe dream!). I don't expect anyone would ever buy a supercharger kit for a 400 but I want to do it just for fun. The 30kg goal sounds extremely difficult but after some rough calculations on replacing the rear subframe, battery and shock it doesn't seem impossible.
cheers
Blair

Re: Weight List
I just edited this post to remove my web link, keeping with the spirit of the forum, and display the weight list. The battery values are taken from a Yuasa specification document and were not actually weighed.
