Attempted Hotwiring

Post by Cosimoto » Mon Mar 19, 2018 12:59 pm

Hi all,

Woke up this morning to discover that the 3 wires from the ignition had been exposed bare and wrapped around each other..
When I turn the ignition the bike shows no signs of life.
I checked the 10A fuses and 30A main fuse, none of which are blown and the batter has a 12.9v reading.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to troubleshoot?

Cheers

First thing you need to do is disconnect the battery.
Picture of where the wires are exposed would help.
Second where the wires have been exposed you really need to make sure they are well insulated from each other.
Third charge the battery and see if it still retains a full charge , if it does what I would do is then replace the battery and connect the live side of the wiring to the battery and then connect the earth side via a jump lead just in case you have to quickly disconnect, heavy sparking is a sign something wrong and you need to investigate further.
You also need to find out why the wires were exposed.
Has some scumbag tried to nick it?
