Track bike build'08,'09,'10,'11,'12,13.........

Ok i decided that my road 29 was too good to take on track as i have done this year without any offs.I gather its only a matter of time before it does happen and i never push it too much with the worry of the damage/cost of replacing any damaged parts. So over the winter im planning on putting a complete track bike together. I have accuired some parts as below,

Whilst doing this work im beginning to worry ive bitten off more than i can chew already! But hey it kills a few hours in the garage while the wife watches eastenders and corrie etc!

Long list of bits required along with an engine to follow. Will keep adding updates as and when (If)they happen.

Thought id add the cost of the project so far and edit it as things get bought as needed.

£400 for a nearly complete bike, minus fairing and a few other bits (cheers DS)
£8 clutch cable
£4 oil and neutrel leds
£10 tyre changes
£5 gear rod clamp
£6 fork oil
£10 rattle can sprays

I built myself one over the last year or so, wasnt really in a hurry so just pottered about in the garage when I had the time. It does seem like a lot of work at the time but well worth the effort. There's nothing like swinging your leg over a bike that you've just built from the ground up, you know everything that should have been done has been and I'd recommend it to anyone. And you'd be surprised at how much quicker you'll go on a bike you're prepared to drop!
Hope it all works out for you, likewise if there's anything you need dont hesitate to ask, I might have a few bits lying around.

I got most of my aftermarket stuff of Graeme and found him to be a font of invaluable knowledge......sorry for all the bone questions Graeme!!!

yes mate I know, he has my bike at the mo....doing the valve stem seals or someother black magic!!

Right then a quick update, all ive done really is clean up/inspect/lube and spray things as ive been putting them back. Saving money where i can i used a black wood buring stove rattlecan spray i had left over. Seems to have done the job just fine lol. Belows a couple of pics for reference.



Rear shock in, no Luxury of an Abba stand for me!



Forks and front wheel in.



Rear wheel and clip-ons added.

In the process of spraying up a couple of things now and need to source a few nuts and bolts instead of using screwdrivers on the rear shock etc!

Cheers Billy, Dave is my dog by the way not me. Billy doesnt rub my ears. Neither do i want him to, no offensence mate lol.

Well sub frame sprayed and bolted on along with the clock/fairing mount. Front brake lever and calipers fitted with braided hoses.
Wiring loom next, where do i start? This is where im gonna need some help! Time to make a few calls lol.

Right nearly gone as far as i can now, waiting on an engine from santa clause. But i did pick a box of bits and bobs up from geoff, so will have a look whats in there. Did see some real useful stuff like tank rubbers etc when i had a quick peek. Just going to be spraying the tank till the engine appears.
