R6S (03-09) shock installed w/pics

Post by cajun »

Well I tried the F3 shock, tried the F4i shock and wasn't happy with either. Sooooo.......... I tired one more. This is a 2003 R6 shock 2003 through 2005 these were R6's and after that they made hem R6S's. Bolts in good, only thing needed to do was put some washers on the bottom eyelet. Well that and get rid of all the plastic holders that are in the way that hold the cables. This is off of a 2003 which I believe has the lightest spring at 9.6kg/nm (04-05 I think has an 11 which would be better). But I am currently adding a 12.6 spring because I'm about 200lbs. Picks the rear up about 30mm at the tail which I like aswell. That and it gives compression and rebound adjustment. Only problem is the Comp is hard to get to with the petcock in the way. But that only takes loosening the tank and dialing it in. Once dialled in you shouldn't have to mess with it. Overall I think it's a good compromise instead of the F3 shocks.

300mm which is why I went with it. Picks the rear up a tad.

And Zul I'll get some this weekend of it. It's still in the construction phase as of now. Waiting for the 600RR forks to come in and gotta put the R6 rad on.

15mm longer than stock then, the Maxton ive fitted to mine is 310mm. Brings the back end up to compensate for the larger profile front tyre, tips into corners sweetly now. Is this a track or road bike project?

Yeah I wanted to raise the rear because I'm running a 120 and the rear was too low to begin with. It's a race bike only, trying to get it sorted before the end of June. If so I'm hoping to podium for sure.

very nice....a far nicer upgrade that the CBR6 shock, have you been able to leave the standard battery box and overflow bottle in place?

Shame you didnt do a step by step.

Yeah I'll do one when I take the spring off to get resprung. Battery Box is still there but the overflow is gone. Could have kept it but there was so much clutter already..
