hi all, can any 1 help me with my clutch problems....

when im driving fast, i change gear and when i release the clutch it sometimes feels like the clutch is still dissengaged... the revs build up but the bike struggles to pull. Also the gearbox seems really heavy, it clunks into 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc and neutral is hard to find. I think there is some clutch drag but at the lever ive screwed the adjuster all the way in and altered free play at the lower end so im pretty sure i need new clutch. Can some1 plz guide me in the right direction, thanks

I had the exact same thing start to happen on me last night so if anyone knows if there is a way to further adjust or where to pick up a clutch kit from. I don't suppose viper or someone else has done another detailed manual to follow like the valve clearences....

I've recently done my clutch, I used new genuine Honda steels and Ebc clutch friction plates and gasket from Rick Oliver (great service as usual), if you follow the Haynes manual its well explained and will only take an afternoon. I've fitted a new cable for good measure too. If your going to do it, do it right the first time - I could have taken a chance with the origonal steels but for the peace of mind its worth the extra outlay.

sounds like your clutch is slipping.

Have you recently changed the oil? Using fully synth or even just new semi-synth with a worn clutch can cause slippage for the first few miles till the oil gets 'dirty'

If not it sounds like your clutch is worn out and needs replacing.

It's not difficult to do, heres an over-simplified guide, either download the haynes manual or the honda service manual.. there easily found on the net.

-drain oil,
-remove engine side cover
-remove clutch
-dissassemble clutch basket
-swap old plates for new ones
-reassemble
-refil with oil
-adjust clutch cable.

Yeah i have just done a complete oil and filter change on the bike. so if it is the oil how long shall i give it before i go for a new clutch or shall i do it anyway....

What oil did you put in? Fully synth is the worst for clutch issues.

Give it 150 miles or so of riding, see if it beds in.

as neo say's,fully synthetic oil is the main culprit usually for this problem if used.

i was lucky the last time round when i used fully synthetic oil,as i never experienced any issues whatsoever.........

I used hein garriek (can't spell it ) performance semi synth. do you think i should look for new cluth plates anyway.

I dont know if this would apply to your bike, but on a cg125 i once had, when dumping the clutch hard through the
gears there would be some slip, as you explained. The problem wasnt that the clutch plates themselves were shot,
it was that plates were bouncing as they came together when the clutch was released fast. the clutch springs were too tired. Between each bounce the revs jumped up, not as a noticable jump but as what felt like a clutch slip.
