NC29 Fuel pump query
Ref my previous post - I managed to locate a replacement fuel pump for my NC29(N) but it's a bit on the tatty side. So I'm going to keep looking for one in better nick. Can anyone advise me which other bike models (if any) use the same Mitsubishi pump? Many thanks.

Re: NC29 Fuel pump query
why not give it a quick service yourself... I've kept a few running for years with a bit of TLC.
Take it out, remove the black plastic cover (only 1 screw keeping the top on.) Give it a good spray with carb clean and let dry, run some 120 wet and dry between the contacts, check the wires are not exposed and touching and that the earth wire in the top is connected and there yah go. Should, unless fully knackered run like as goodun. Col

Re: NC29 Fuel pump query
Fair comment, Col, and it's something I will bear in mind. Thanks.
The thing is, though, this is the second fuel pump problem I've had in two years, and although I'm sure it's a coincidence, and there's no sinister reason why I've needed to buy two pumps in a fairly short time, I don't want to risk fiddling around with the only working pump I've got in case I end up with another one that won't go. (I'm only in the UK for 6 months of the year so I don't like losing 'bike on the road' time).
As they are not excessively expensive second-hand (I paid 22 quid for the last one) I thought it would be worth trying to get hold of one in really good nick 'just in case' and saving it for a rainy day! If I could find out which other models use the same pump, the search would be much easier.
But thanks once again for your suggestion.

Re: NC29 Fuel pump query
in 6 years i had to change my pump last year.
the original one had knackered points, the one that replaced it apparently hasnt got much life left in it eighter!
the bike shop said you can use any pump so long as the pipes line up. BUT you do need to be careful what you get doesnt push too much or too little fuel through. they did give me a name to look for but i cant remember what it is.

Re: NC29 Fuel pump query
Many thanks, l_p, if you remember any details I will be grateful if you could pass them along. Cheers.
From a general point of view, though, I wonder how professional bike mechanics find out these things - is it just experience? Or maybe there's a 'big book' somewhere listing each part and which Honda models it is compatible with? Would be pretty useful, wouldn't it?!!

Re: NC29 Fuel pump query
there is a big yellow book that my lot use to find after market parts for your bike. if they cant find the part in there, only then do they refer to the honda parts list.
i will forget to ask them. 01284 765434 Ekquire MC. these guys are a workshop only, not a dealership.
if you tell them the Beck Row Bikers woman told you to ring about the fuel pump alternative they told me about.
they only had a makers name. no model. i did look it up and they had several models available to buy.

Re: NC29 Fuel pump query
Thanks to you both. The ZX7R info has been logged away, and when I get back to the UK in a couple of months I will call the number recommended in order to find out which other models have pumps common to the NC29.
Once again, many thanks.
