NC 29, flat spots, lights and crankshaft bearing shells.

Post by cbr_veze » Thu Mar 19, 2009 8:43 pm

hi guys, im new to this forum but i look forward to talking to you all!
now, about a month ago i bought a cracking little NC29. i bit shabby cosmetice wie but everything else was good, i wasnt gunna complain, not for £500. When bought it, the engine was running realy nice, a bit spluttery so i put some new plugs in and it was fine again. Apart from a really irretating flat spot between 5 - 7000 rpm. And my headlights drain th battery  .other than that, its not bad. up until last week. My engine was making a bit of a nock under load but when up to speed it was fine, so i suspected a crank bearing was on its way out, so i quickly took it back to the guys i bought it from ecause i deal with them for my repaires, there good, honest guys.
i took a day off work yesterday to drop the engine out for them to cut cost, which was nice of them to let me do, cuz moneys abit tight at the minute as you all know.
i left them with the lump so they could have a look at it for me. i rang them earlier and they said that two of the shells are quite worn, and two are ok, the two that are ok are a slightly bigger shell so my guess is theyve been done in the past. i understand that they are colour coded? ive not had much experiance with bottom ends. my question is, if i can get the code for the worn shell, where would i get them from> ive heard there fairly inexpensive. thank you for your time. cheers
josh.
