I have the same problem but no big socket/spanner. So maybe I have 2 problems. Could someone give me a quick run down on the easiest way to do this please? I have a Haynes manual to double check... Thanks!royster81 wrote:foxy bingo !!!!!!!!!!!!!1colingram wrote:Hey Royster,

Re: hollow front end knock...
Hey Carl,
you need a 41m socket for the stem nut on the top yoke and a torque wrench as it's tight (140nm according to Haynes manual). loosen the top yoke pinch bolts (5m allen key jobby according to my dodgy memory) then pull the top yoke off. where you took the stem nut off, you will see two lock rings secured with a locking washer. First bend the lock washer tabs so you can loosen the top lock ring. Pull her off first, then tighten the bottom lock ring using precision shifting device and a drift. Lock washer back on, then top lock ring. Tighten her up, then bend the lock washer into place again. Top yoke back on etc and voila. Bike is gonna feel like brand new again for half and hour of elbow grease.
Sorry about the over explaining, but I have a habit of doing it and can't help it
If you are in NI (Belfast) area, I have the 41m socket.........
