NC 30 recommended fluid brand/type (oil, coolant, fuel type)

Post by Chris909 » Sun Jan 03, 2021 2:08 pm

Dear all,

I have recently got a Honda NC 30 and would value members experience and advice on recommended fluids. I have the manual for reference, but I am mindful that some things have changed and improved over time in terms of these products. It would be good to know what owners recommend in terms of type or brand of fluids, any strongly recommendations would be welcome.

1. Oil and filter (any recommended type or make of oil? I assume a Honda filter is best to go for, any others recommended?)
2. Fuel (I assume Super unleaded 98 RON or is it happier on the 95 RON?)
3. Coolant (any recommendations)

Many thanks for any feedback, Cheers Chris

Oil filter is common to many bikes. OEM part # 15400679033 but I use Mann W67/1 as I get them trade for just over £3 each. Other decent options are Donaldson P502067, Fleetguard LF3692 or HiFlo HF204.

Oil, many will probably recommend Rock oil but I've always used Silkolene (they used to be a sponsor to me and I still get decent prices buying direct).

Fuel, TBH, you won't notice any real benefit from using RON98 unless the engine is in a high state of tune.

Coolant, I use John Deere Cool-Gard II. It's fookin expensive even at trade (around £80 for 20ltr concentrate) but it's the dog's whatsits.
