NC30 fork strip

Post by socket13 » Mon Apr 13, 2020 10:22 am

Stripped the forks, stanchions away for rechroming , the Haynes manual says when you start the rebuild ,you insert the damper rod minus its components and fit the Allen bolt into the damper rod and tighten to specified torque, as I didn’t need to replace any of the components on the damper rod, can I just refit it complete as it came out of the fork tubes?

I'm not really sure what it is your asking,

I'm assuming you mean when the fork tubes come back from re-chroming?

Basically you need to re install just the damper rod, leave out the spring, washers and spacer, tighten the bolt up at the bottom this then allows you to fill it with oil and set your air gap once you've don't that then you can install the spring, washers and spacer

Hope that helps
